Présent sur le chantier le dimanche 27 avril, le maire de Royan, Patrick Marengo, a salué la progression rapide des travaux en soulignant l’efficacité des ouvriers. Il a déclaré : « Ce chantier a été mené tambour battant ; il fallait voir la foule d’ouvriers à l’œuvre. » Conscient de l’impatience des habitants de Royan, en particulier des plus anciens, il a assuré : « Nous retrouverons l’esprit du front de mer d’antan, mais en mieux. »
Cependant, il faudra attendre jusqu’au mois de juin pour voir l’installation des deux nouveaux kiosques qui accueilleront quatre restaurants, chacun pouvant accueillir 40 couverts. En attendant, les résidents et les visiteurs pourront déjà profiter d’un front de mer arboré, agrémenté de stores rouges et de nouveaux parasols. L’inauguration s’annonce festive, avec la participation de nombreux groupes de musique pour célébrer ce renouveau.
